Protect Renters in light of the COVID 19 outbreak
The government’s budget of the 11th March 2020 set out emergency measures to be introduced to help deal with the Coronavirus outbreak and the economic impact it will have on businesses and employees. The budget did not set out any plans to protect renters from eviction or rent arrears.
In light of the COVID - 19 outbreak for the Government to:-
Enact temporary rent freezes for renters suffering with the virus or self isolating for the period of their self isolation and recoveryAnnounce an emergency freeze on all current section 21 or section 8 evictionsAnnounce an emergency freeze on all applications for section 21 or 8 evictionsAnnounce an emergency freeze on evictions of housing association and council tenantsIn line with the above, decree that any period of time spent in self isolation or ill with Coronavirus will be disregarded in section 8 hearings and not counted in the ‘over 2 months arrears threshold '

We can't accept your petition because suspending payments for mortgages, rent and utility bills is a matter for individual lenders, landlords, and utility companies and not the UK Government or Parliament.
