Petition Action

Pay-day loans and Credit card interest rate cap

Petition Details

Pay-day loans and Credit card interest rates should be capped and a maximum interest rate set. Rates currently range from 19.9% APR to 1333% for pay day loans
We urge the Government to write into Law protective measures in order to protect its citizens.

Additional Information

Pay-day loans and Credit card rates should be capped and a maximum interest rate set. Credit card providers cannot charge prohibitive rates while they receive credit at very low rates from the Bank of England. With individuals facing loss of earnings due to Covid-19 this would lead to further financial difficulties. The mental and physical impacts are also unmeasurable
