Protect victims of CHILD ABUSE during COVID- 19 isolation measures
To protect current and potential victims of child abuse during COVID- 19 isolation measures by ensuring ALL schools provide ALL children with details of relevant organisations/ charities BEFORE schools shut.
Children may be vulnerable during these times by continuing to be or becoming victims of physical/ sexual/ emotional abuse.
Times like these can lead to fear, friction and frustration especially when coupled with economic uncertainty. Children can unfortunately become scapegoats.
Being at home with restricted movement can be terrifying for children who are victims of abuse/ hostile home environments.
Little can be done to help child abuse victims once the school and/ or home doors close.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
The protection and promotion of the welfare of children is a responsibility of individual local authorities, not the Government or Parliament.
The Government has issued guidance for schools and other educational settings, including on safeguarding and vulnerable children and young people: www.gov.uk/government/collections/coronavirus-covid-19-guidance-for-schools-and-other-educational-settings
Most schools and colleges have now closed to most students, so it would not be possible for the Government to update its guidance to recommend that schools issue certain information before they close.
If you are worried that a child or young person is at risk or is being abused the Government has published guidance on how to report this: www.gov.uk/report-child-abuse
