Introduce 3-Month Rent Holidays During Coronavirus Outbreak
On Tuesday 17 March, during the Prime Minister's daily briefing on the coronavirus pandemic, Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak announced a 3-Month Mortgage Repayment Holiday for homeowners affected by the outbreak. We want him to extend this policy to include the millions of renters in the UK.
This announcement, whilst good for homeowners, does nothing to help millions of private renters, many of whom are in lower-paid jobs, in vulnerable financial positions and work in highly-impacted industries such as retail, hospitality and leisure. It's only fair that these people are able to self-isolate without fear of losing the place they call home.

Suspending payments for rent, council tax, mortgages and utilities is a matter for individual landlords, councils, mortgage providers and utility providers, and not the UK Government or Parliament.
