Petition Action

Punish the British citizens enacting hate crime against Chinese students

Petition Details

With the recent outbreak of COVID-19, many immature and uneducated youths/adults are taking their freedom of speech too far, committing violent acts and shouting abuse. This is unacceptable, as human beings and as British citizens. We should all be helping each other.

Additional Information

Hate crime and violent acts of any kind are unacceptable. Just because someone isn’t born here, does not mean they deserve to be discriminated against here by the locals. Whether they are old enough to be taken to court or not, they should know how they should treat other people.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Hate crimes and violent acts are already against the law. Decisions about charging or prosecuting individuals for offences for hate crime or violent behaviour are a matter for the police and Crown Prosecution Service, and not the Government and Parliament.

You could start a petition calling for sentences for hate crimes to be increased, if this is something you would like to see.
