DON’T USE OUR PREDICTED GRADES AS A RESULT OF COVID 19 - HAVE EXAMS INSTEAD

Petition Details

Please can you ensure that predicted grades aren’t used as they have been proven to be extremely unfair and discriminatory to certain minority groups. Instead can exams be pushed back as this ensures equality for all students as you will get what you worked for.

Additional Information

Johnson’s decision on COVID-19 has left a lot of a level students feeling paranoid or anxious as to what the outcome will be. It’s is clear that the predicted grade system is not fair and instead everyone should be made to sit exams. Would the government be able to clarify on the next steps of school closure and ensure that everyone will receive fair grades based of fair examinations being taken on later on. As predicted grades/ mock results aren’t a true reflection of potential.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Decisions about exams are a matter for exam boards and individual schools, not the UK Government or Parliament. You can read the decision made by exam boards on what will happen to exams here:
www.gov.uk/government/news/further-details-on-exams-and-grades-announced

If you want the Government to review the decision to use previous data to calculate exam grades, you may wish to sign this petition:

As a result of the large numbers of petitions people have tried to start on this issue, and following a large number of questions it received from petitioners about exams, the Petitions Committee asked the Government about the impact of coronavirus on schools and exams.
