Move the Council Tax direct debit payments from April 1st to June 1st 2020.
To ease the financial burden on households in this current Coronavirus (Covid-19) crisis and legislate to move the start date of the 10-month schedule for Council Tax payments from 1st April 2020 to 1st June 2020.
For those households who are struggling financially at this time of national crisis a simple move like this will postpone the burden of Council Tax direct debit schedule to 1st June 2020 rather than starting on 1st April 2020. This simple move will provide extra liquidity for households for the next 8-weeks. As an example, in Boston Borough Council, a Band-A household will defer payment of almost £250 until 1st June 2020 when the first instalment of £124 will be due.
