Petition Action

Implement Covid-19 housing rent-cap measures nationwide

Petition Details

Minimum statutory 3 months rent-cap measures starting asap:
-London and major cities - 70% monthly private housing rent reduction
-Council taxes - 50% reduction (applies to all)
-Rest of areas - 50% monthly private housing rent reduction
-Utilities - 50% total cost reductions (and price freeze)

Additional Information

In light of the recent Covid-19 impact on household income, the most vulnerable parts of the population remain the ones in private housing rented properties.

With risks present in terms of job retention, disposable income and increased household running costs during a lock down it is of highest importance that people are protected.

Rental prices, especially within major cities, can easily wipe out years of household savings.

The Government and Mayors need to react.
