Reduce commercial and residential rents by 90% for 3 months.
Workers are being laid off, why should landlords be protected simply because leases are harder to change than employment contracts?
Reducing rents would protect workers financial and mental health, it would help businesses, meaning the economy will be ready to bounce back.
Leases are legal documents. Amending each one would be highly complex and would depend on individual landlords consent.
Parliamentary sovereignty means parliament could do this quickly and simply, without large legal costs on individuals.
