Change the schools acedemic year start time to January

Petition Details

The proposal is to run school January to December (not September to August). So children will be a minimum of 4 years and 4 months went starting school

Additional Information

With the school closing down for a prolonged period of time lets encourage the government to over hall the school system not just put a band aid on for this years cohort.
This change will mean all children will be a minimum of 4 years and 4 months went starting school and exams will not be in the hot Summer term
This is an opportunity like no other

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Decisions about school term dates are a matter for the governing bodies of individual schools, not the Government or Parliament. You could start a petition calling on the Government to change the age at which local authorities are required to provide a school place for a child, but this would not necessarily mean that schools changed their term dates.
