Allow children to go to school if they have one parent who is a key worker
Schools around the country have been communicating with parents to say they will only allow children who have two key worker parents to attend school. Allow parents with one key worker to be able to send their children to school
Many key workers, including nhs staff, are married/partners of a non-key worker. In many instances the non-key worker is expected to stay at home and take on full time childcare to allow the key worker to continue their job. Many people’s personal circumstances mean the key worker in this relationship will have no option but to take time off to assist in childcare. Help keep our nhs and other key workers on the frontline by allowing their children to be sent to school/nursery.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
The guidance issued to schools on maintaining educational provision does not specify that both parents must be key workers, but that if it is at all possible for children to be at home, then they must be. If a key worker cannot keep their child safe at home then their children will be prioritised for education provision.
