Rethink the British and Scottish governments’ decision to cancel all exams 2020
Today, it was officially announced that no exams would go ahead. Instead, they advised that exam boards would decide the grade of every student based upon their performance in school. This would be based upon student performance in: prelims/mocks; unit assessments; coursework and recent classwork.
Until today, no student would’ve thought that they’d be unable to sit their final exams, and so would not have put much work into practice exams because of the constant reminder that they “mean nothing and are only there to help you”. Teachers require evidence for the predicted grades, and obviously these grades may come from prelims and other internal assessments.
In light of this, we ask that the government reconsiders their decision to cancel exams, and instead, seeks other viable options.
