Ensure financial protection for registered childminders
Childminders are affected by the recent government decisions with regards to COVID-19.
These people are self employed and their insurance does NOT cover them for situations such as this. The Government needs to make provision so ensure that they can support themselves during this crisis.
Current legislation does not protect the income for these individuals who ensure working parents and students are able work or study whilst their children are cared for by properly trained individuals.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Since this petition was started, the Government has said that most self-employed people can claim a taxable grant worth 80% of their trading profits up to a maximum of £2,500 per month for the next 3 months.
