Make it mandatory for landlords to inform tenants of COVID-19 mortgage holidays
Some mortgage lenders are now offering COVID-19 mortgage repayment holidays, not all landlords will inform their tenants of this and continue taking rent. We want the government to make it mandatory for homeowners on mortgage repayment break to: (a) inform their tenants, and (b) offer rent holidays.
Our Prime Minister has described the Coronavirus outbreak as the worst public health crisis in a generation, many have lost their jobs during this time and small businesses face risks of closing down. Millions could face homelessness as a result of not being able to cover rent costs.
Whilst some banks and mortgage lenders have agreed to provide homeowners with a 3-months holiday on mortgage repayments during this time, it is not clear what support would be given to their tenants.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Suspending payments for rent, council tax, mortgages and utilities is a matter for individual landlords, councils, mortgage providers and utility providers, and not the UK Government or Parliament.
