Suspend Inheritance Tax for the duration of the Coronavirus outbreak
There should be an Inheritance Tax 'holiday' as part of the financial measures to cope with the crisis.
This would mean that parents who can, should be able to help financially if their children are struggling because of the virus. This would safeguard the future of families and reduce some of the burden on the nation's resources. It would also let older people, (who cannot currently offer practical help due to self-isolating) contribute to the country's effort to get through this.
There will unfortunately be deaths of elderly people due to this virus, and inheritance tax will place an economic burden on their families at a point when they are least able to pay.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.
We're not sure exactly what you mean by an Inheritance Tax 'holiday'. In particular, whether you would like funds to be able to be gifted now and excluded from calculations if relatives pass away after the outbreak has finished, or if you mean no inheritance tax applied to the estates of those who pass away during the outbreak.
You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
