Petition Action

Financial support for private hire drivers and taxi drivers affected by covid 19

Petition Details

To provide financial support to private hire drivers & taxi drivers during the covid 19 outbreak. Drivers are not earning enough money due to social distancing, restaurants, pubs & clubs being closed. People are in isolation so drivers are not getting enough rides. Government needs to address this.

Additional Information

Private hire drivers are self employed and most use an app to work and earn a living. The companies for example Uber may not provide financial assistance to the drivers. The government will provide support to all businesses and employees affected by covid 19 so private hire drivers and taxi drivers should also be included. Private hire drivers depend on the public to earn a living. Due to social distancing measures businesses are closed and this has had a detrimental impact on their earnings.
