Self-employed - Provide realistic financial support (Coronavirus)
Government support for self-employed (Coronavirus) is insufficient & unfair. It will not cover ongoing business costs. Self-employed will not be able to cover costs, eg mortgages, vehicles, machinery, rents. Gov. must be realistic & realise without support self-employed “small businesses” will fail.
This petition requests the government treat self employed the same as employed staff & guarantee to fund 80% of their income up to £2,500 per month, based on historic tax returns. This will allow the self-employed sector to see this through & bounce back when it is over.
You can't sign this petition because it was rejected. But you can still comment on it here at Repetition.me!
The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Since this petition was started, the Government has said that most self-employed people can claim a taxable grant worth 80% of their trading profits up to a maximum of £2,500 per month for the next 3 months.
