Petition Action

Introduce a cap on prices for necessary goods during the epidemic

Petition Details

A lot of businesses are using the Coronavirus outbreak as an opportunity to exploit the demand of the UK population, by raising the prices of many goods. Some workers across the UK cannot afford the rising prices of some goods, while businesses benefit from the rise in demand and the rise in prices.

Additional Information

Some companies have raised their prices by 2000% on goods such as Hand Sanitisers and Face masks-Guardian. A recent Sky News study discovered that some small shops are using the epidemic to raise prices on goods. The Government should introduce a new fine for businesses which over-price goods within the UK.
