Urgently set up a temporary income protection fund for self-employed workers
The Government should offer the same help as other workers who will get 80% of wages, up to £2,500 a month, if they cannot work due to the coronavirus pandemic.
“Many self-employed are worried about putting food on the table, paying their rent or mortgage and other bills.
The Government measures at this point make self employed rely on getting a loan which many cannot afford. The alternative is SSP, which if your not sick does not assist nor amounts to what you would need to cover the basics of living.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Since this petition was started, the Government has said that most self-employed people can claim a taxable grant worth 80% of their trading profits up to a maximum of £2,500 per month for the next 3 months.
