UK government earnings guarantee to include self employed and freelance workers
UK government to extend the 80% guarantee of financial support for employees to include the self employed and freelance workers. This sector makes an important contribution across many segments of the UK economy and should therefore be treated on an equal footing in these unprecedented times
We feel that the Covid 19 is an indiscriminate virus which impacts on all cross sections of the UK population and accordingly it is not equitable to exclude a segment of the workforce from receiving financial assistance from the UK government in these difficult times

Since this petition was started, the Government has said that most self-employed people can claim a taxable grant worth 80% of their trading profits up to a maximum of £2,500 per month for the next 3 months.
