Give self employed equality on measures to support with income due to Covid-19
Give self employed workers the same protection as employees on incomes effected by restrictions put in place to combat Covid-19. Make them eligible to claim 80% of last years income on a weekly/monthly basis in line with employees.
The self employed have been discriminated against in the latest round of support announced by the government. Many have had their incomes drop to zero overnight and also have outstanding amounts due that are not being paid. They need support in paying a mortgage or rent as much as the employed and have families to support.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Since this petition was started, the Government has said that most self-employed people can claim a taxable grant worth 80% of their trading profits up to a maximum of £2,500 per month for the next 3 months.
