Pay self employed more than just SSP during the corona virus pandemic
Those who are self employed or on zero hour contracts only being able to receive SSP whilst self isolating during the corona virus pandemic isn’t sufficient, nor is it just when compared to employees who will receive 80% of their salary.
The government should pay the self employed and those on zero hour contracts 80% of their average wage (based on the previous 6 months) whilst they are self isolating.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Since this petition was started, the Government has said that most self-employed people can claim a taxable grant worth 80% of their trading profits up to a maximum of £2,500 per month for the next 3 months.
