Self-employed workers to receive the same benefits as an employee
"Coronavirus crisis"
An employee currently earning £25,000 a year would get £20,000 through the new job retention scheme but while someone who’s self-employed earning the same sum might only access around £5,000 worth of support.
It is very clear the virus doesn't discriminate so why is the Government doing so?
Why should an employee get more help at these terrible times than a self-employed worker?
Self-employed workers are important to the UK economy as are every employee.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Since this petition was started, the Government has said that most self-employed people can claim a taxable grant worth 80% of their trading profits up to a maximum of £2,500 per month for the next 3 months.
