Provide financial support for self employed- 80% of income from last tax return.
Self employed workers are the life blood of our communities and our society. They need support during the coronavirus crisis so that when it’s over they can resume their work. Our government should provide equity with the support package for employed workers.
Self employed includes arts workers, joiners, artists, writers, plumbers, electricians, face painters, musicians, cleaners and many others. Almost every part of our society is supported by an army of self employed individuals fulfilling their role and paying their taxes. These people should have a equity of provision with those employed by small businesses so that they can survive financially over the crisis and come back to work when it’s possible.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Since this petition was started, the Government has said that most self-employed people can claim a taxable grant worth 80% of their trading profits up to a maximum of £2,500 per month for the next 3 months.
