Government funding for self-employed & freelancers during Coronavirus outbreak
Extend the grants and funding currently being offered to businesses (with premises) & the employed to the self-employed and freelancers. Additional support is required to keep small independent businesses afloat during the coronavirus social-distancing period.
Self-employed freelancers play a key role in the UK economy. With many essential trades such as: electricians, plumbers, engineers, carpenters, hairdressers, tyre fitters, mechanics, builders, IT specialists etc. Who all face dwindling income and limited support in the form of credit facilities (creating a future debt problem for low earners), or the inadequate funds available via universal credit. Government needs to support trades NOW to prevent massive casualties in the self-employed sector.
