Underwrite 80% of income for the self employed too
I am alarmed at the govt’s lack of provision for the self employed apart from universal credit. I'd like the govt to reconsider so that we are on a level footing as those on PAYE.
HMRC have our tax returns from last year. I'd like the government to underwrite 80% of our income based on that.
The self employed and freelancers are staring into a financial abyss and we need just as much financial assistance as those on PAYE. We are not second tier citizens. We are hard working citizens who also contribute to the economy.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Since this petition was started, the Government has said that most self-employed people can claim a taxable grant worth 80% of their trading profits up to a maximum of £2,500 per month for the next 3 months.
