All Self Employed to be paid fairly in line with other workers during Covid-19
The government should ensure that all Self Employed are treated fairly in line with all other workers that are being asked to not work due to the Covid-19 emergency. The Self Employed should have their wages covered up to 80% of their take home pay.
The Self Employed are being asked to claim either ESA or Universal Credit which amounts to a maximum of £94 per week. This amount is not enough to pay Mortgages/rent, pay bills and pay council tax let alone feed and clothe our families. We are being treated unfairly in comparison with the rest of society but yet being asked to act the same by isolating ourselves during this current emergency.

Since this petition was started, the Government has said that most self-employed people can claim a taxable grant worth 80% of their trading profits up to a maximum of £2,500 per month for the next 3 months.
