Petition Action

Introduce controls on the number of people allowed into a supermarket.

Petition Details

Come up with a methodology such as choosing a post code for a particular time slot, only allowing a supermarket to have so many people in so that social distancing can be practiced. Also a person is only allowed half an hour in the supermarket.

Additional Information

There are draconian measures for cinemas, bars etc but NOTHING for supermarkets.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Since you started your petition the Government has issued guidance for food businesses on coronavirus, which recommends that supermarkets monitor the number of customers within store and limit access to avoid congestion: www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-guidance-for-food-businesses/guidance-for-food-businesses-on-coronavirus-covid-19

It is up to individual retailers to determine how they implement this guidance.
