Amendment to UN Charter Article 27 (veto power) for Genocide prevention
Lobby to amend the UN Charter Article 27 - so that if in the event of genocide - any veto for military intervention - CAN be over-ruled (in exceptional cases) in-order to save lives (& carry out the function the UN was actually set up to
help do! ).
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
For UN disagreement/inaction examples see - Rwanda, Second Congo War, Srebrenica, Somalia, Darfur, Israel/Pallestine etc.
World War II atrocities/genocide led to a ready consensus that the UN must work to prevent such future tragedies. The UN Charter obliges all member nations to promote "universal respect for, and observance of, human rights" and to take "joint and separate action" to that end. The UN MUST enforce action against states not doing this (e.g. currently, Syria).
The Council countries that veto action, e.g. China/Russia (with dubious Human rights) would no longer be able to hinder the UN from conducting its core duties.
