Limit the number of customers in supermarkets at one time - COVID-19

Petition Details

Supermarkets should limit the amount of customers entering supermarkets to protect the retail staff. Having a system or ticket system limits the amount of people in any 1 place.
Pubs and clubs are shut to prevent big gatherings but supermarkets are no different to them!

Additional Information

Ask supermarkets and shops to limit the amount of people in them at any one time to prevent big crowds and help prevent the spread of COVID - 19

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Since you started your petition the Government has issued guidance for food businesses on coronavirus, which recommends that supermarkets monitor the number of customers within store and limit access to avoid congestion: www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-guidance-for-food-businesses/guidance-for-food-businesses-on-coronavirus-covid-19

It is up to individual retailers to determine how they implement this guidance.
