80% income for ALL workers
Extend the scheme for 80% income to self employed and zero hours workers unable to work during the Coronavirus outbreak. Guarantee the same income as other workers already covered by the scheme, if unable to work due to workplace being closed or work being prohibited due to the nature of the work.
Including self employed and zero hours workers in the scheme means equality and fairness. No one should be left out of this scheme. Why should self employed and zero hours workers be denied the same income security as those in regular employment? The Government has a duty of care and responsibility for all workers in this country.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Since this petition was started, the Government has said that most self-employed people can claim a taxable grant worth 80% of their trading profits up to a maximum of £2,500 per month for the next 3 months.
