Petition Action

A law that bank accounts 100k+ pay £100 COVID-19 fund that will go to keyworkers

Petition Details

I think it would be an enormous act of kindness of these individuals and companies to pledge just £100. It should be made a law for just £100 to be paid by them that have over £100,000 in a bank account to a Coronavirus fund for all key workers that are involved in our terrible crisis.

Additional Information

Our key workers are the only thing that are keeping us going right now and really are on the front line.

It's so important for us to look after our overwhelmed key workers in this terrible time.

It is just £100 and even if that goes into a pension or paid over time they all deserve to be recognised and appreciated in these desperate times as they are working to themselves to the bone.

It should be called a 'One time £100 Coronavirus tax' and then be closed once it's been paid.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

It's not clear whether you referring to a donation, which would not be a matter for the UK Government or Parliament, or a tax, which is something the Government could do.

You could start a new petition stating more clearly whether you want the Government to impose a tax on people that have a certain amount of money in a bank account.
