Petition Action

Treat all BTEC students the same way as other A-level and GCSE students

Petition Details

With all that is happening with Covid-19 and the change in the assessment for A-Level students and GCSE students, I think it is only fair the BTEC students are assessed the same way.

Additional Information

Many students struggle with assignments, especially with home distractions and without the help and guidance of their teachers.

Due to this I believe that we should also receive our grades based off our predicted grades and previous attainments.

This is due to the struggle some students will incur whilst trying to complete assignments they have been taught little to no knowledge of and will then have little to no support from teachers due to this troubling time.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Decisions about exams are a matter for exam boards and individual schools, not the UK Government or Parliament. You can read the Government's announcement about what will happen to exams here: www.gov.uk/government/news/further-details-on-exams-and-grades-announced

Ofqual has stated that it is working with awarding organisations to finalise a list of qualifications that we will advise the Secretary of State should be in scope for learners to receive a calculated result, and this will include many BTEC Nationals: www.gov.uk/government/news/awarding-vocational-and-technical-qualifications-this-summer
