Keep vaping shops open in total COVID-19 lockdown to stop ex-smokers relapsing
We're campaigning for vaping stores to be deemed an essential shop in the event of a total COVID-19 lockdown. As smoking has been deemed a risk factor in risk of coronavirus complications, these stores are vital in preventing smoking relapse and reducing NHS burden.
Speaking in the Commons on the 17th of March, the Secretary of State for Health said “It is abundantly clear from the research into previous coronaviruses that smoking makes the impact of a coronavirus worse.”
Ex-smokers face significant risk of COVID-19 complications if they relapse on cigarettes because they are unable to buy vaping products. By keeping vape shops open, we can limit the damage caused by COVID-19 and reduce any extra strain on the NHS.
