Self-employed people to receive at least 80% pay from HMRC due to COVID-19
For the government to consider ensuring that the same benefits of pay given to employed people are replicated for self employed people during COVID-19.
There are numerous self employed people in this country that are being penalised for not being in ‘employment’ should they have to stop working due to COVID-19. They will be unable to support themselves or their families during a period of not being able to work. The Statutory Sick Pay also does not reflect their accurate wages and would not cover living costs.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Since this petition was started, the Government has said that most self-employed people can claim a taxable grant worth 80% of their trading profits up to a maximum of £2,500 per month for the next 3 months.
