Fair support and protection of income for self employed to match employed
The government need to treat self employed the same as employed staff, to guarantee to fund 80% of their income up to £2,500 per month based on previous tax returns.
There is no incentive for self employed to isolate and social distance because if they don’t continue working they won’t get paid. Claiming universal credit is not a fair or realistic solution. This won’t cover even a quarter of the loss of earnings for most self employed. In most cases, self employed won’t be able to claim universal credit based on their partners income still being over the threshold for entitlement for universal credit. The loss of income for self employed will be significant.
