Petition Action

Support Year 12’s A-Levels by giving special consideration for their exams.

Petition Details

We would like The Government to look at implementing an alternative grading system or to provide special consideration towards the Year 12 students. An alternative grading system that is calculated on factors such as performance from mock exams and the teachers judgement whilst having the exams.

Additional Information

The Government needs to understand that although Year 12 students do not have to sit exams next year, they are majorly affected by schools closing down. Although most schools are providing resources for their students to self teach, this still doesn’t provide enough guidance or time to facilitate an actual learning environment. As students we are missing out on so much of our education due to the COVID-19, our grades are uncertain and students are worried for their future.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Decisions about exams are a matter for exam boards and individual schools, not the UK Government or Parliament. You can read the decision made by exam boards on what will happen to exams here:

If you want the Government to review the decision to use previous data to calculate exam grades, you may wish to sign this petition:

As a result of the large numbers of petitions people have tried to start on this issue, and following a large number of questions it received from petitioners about exams, the Petitions Committee asked the Government about the impact of coronavirus on schools and exams.
