Create new legislation to turn pubs and restaurants into local food suppliers
Bring in new legislation so local pubs and restaurants are allocated a certain amount of households within a local catchment area. They are then given priority supermarket delivery slots for a certain amount of food and drink at a discounted rate to sell and deliver to their locals.
This is a four fold approach. It supports the pubs and restaurants to keep getting revenue during the time they cannot open their doors, it helps people get a regular food delivery so reduces panic, it helps the supermarkets as it reduces the amount of deliveries and reduces the amount of people at the supermarket helping to slow down spreading the virus

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Your petition mainly relates to the operations of pubs and restaurants, which is a matter for individual proprietors, not the Government or Parliament. The sale and supply of goods to pubs and restaurants is a matter for individual retailers, as well as individual proprietors, and not the Government or Parliament.
While the Government has included pubs and restaurants on the list of businesses which have been required to close, the Government has granted permission for pubs and restaurants to operate as takeaways as part of coronavirus response: www.gov.uk/government/news/government-to-grant-permission-for-pubs-and-restaurants-to-operate-as-takeaways-as-part-of-coronavirus-response
You could start a new petition calling on the Government to provide additional financial support to pubs and restaurants, or to take action to ensure members of the public can access essential goods, both of which are things the Government could take action on.
