Implement 80% of income protection for self employed to match employed workforce
Over 10% of the UK workforce are Self employed and most will have seen their work disappear over the last few weeks due to the ongoing situation. The government should be taking further measures to help these people as they have done with the employed.
The self employed sector should be receiving the same support as the employed workforce by making 80% of income available to them based on previous self assessments. Most self employed people have been left behind with current measures and deferring tax payments is not enough.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Since this petition was started, the Government has said that most self-employed people can claim a taxable grant worth 80% of their trading profits up to a maximum of £2,500 per month for the next 3 months.
