Petition Action

Allow Year 10s and 12s to use their predicted grade

Petition Details

Continue the system that has been put in place because of COVID-19 across to year 10s and 12s. This means allowing teachers to submit predicted grades based on students work across next year, so students do not have to sit an exam.

Additional Information

This is an uncertain time for students as they have little or no support at least until September, in line with advice. Some students do not have internet access, some do not have the support from parents, some students parents are not home as they are key workers.
Similarly, if a student teaches themself the wrong piece of information, or a method incorrectly, by the time they are back in front of a teacher, the incorrect method is engrained into them, and that is really hard to get out.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Decisions about exams are a matter for exam boards and individual schools, and are not a matter for the UK Government or Parliament. You can read the decision made by exam boards on what will happen to exams here: www.gov.uk/government/news/further-details-on-exams-and-grades-announced

If you want the Government to review the decision to use previous data to calculate exam grades, you may wish to sign this petition: petition.parliament.uk/petitions/306773

As a result of the large numbers of petitions people have tried to start on this issue, and following a large number of questions it received from petitioners about exams, the Petitions Committee asked the Government about the impact of coronavirus on schools and exams.
