Petition Action

A-Level exams should be awarded on predicted grades, Due to COVID-19.

Petition Details

Want Parliament to let A-Level students receive their predicted grades which were submitted on their uni applications as their final A-Level grades. If students are not happy with this can appeal or sit exams when schools / colleges reopen or in summer 2021.

Additional Information

Students will already know what their grades will be causing less stress which can result in mental health issues worrying what their grades will be and if they will get into university. This will also be better for teachers taking the strain and stress off them of having to grade each pupil themselves. Also using mock exams do not reflect an accurate result as these exams give students a wake up call , making them work harder for final exams.Students do not need anymore stress in this pandemic.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Decisions about exams are a matter for exam boards and individual schools, not the UK Government or Parliament. You can read the decision made by exam boards on what will happen to exams here:
www.gov.uk/government/news/further-details-on-exams-and-grades-announced

If you want the Government to review the decision to use previous data to calculate exam grades, you may wish to sign this petition:

As a result of the large numbers of petitions people have tried to start on this issue, and following a large number of questions it received from petitioners about exams, the Petitions Committee asked the Government about the impact of coronavirus on schools and exams.
