The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Decisions about television content, including advertising, is a matter for individual broadcasters, not the Government or Parliament.

The Government has launched a public information campaign about coronavirus, which includes the use of television advertising. The Government has also made TV and radio content, including on coronavirus, available to broadcasters to fill in gaps in programming.

The National Association of Broadcasters, a trade association for broadcasters, has also made public service announcements on coronavirus available to broadcasters.
