Students not to pay rent for accommodation if moved home due to the coronavirus.
Stop the landlords or agencies charging vunerable students for rent, when they aren't even taking up residence due to COVID-19 isolation with their families back home.
Lectures were stopped at my uni on the 17th March 2020 and we were told to work from home, due to the outbreak of the coronavirus. It's hard for students to afford rent as it is. Then, on top of that, we are being charged for a room and not even living there currently. My tenancy runs up until the end of June so makes a total of £1.5k to pay for nothing. I have asked the agency which I am currently renting from and they said they couldn't stop any payments due to 'government policies'.

Suspending payments or providing refunds for tuition fees and rent are a matter for individual universities and landlords, and not the UK Government or Parliament.
