Christmas Eve and Boxing day off for food retail workers, to say thank you!
People who work in the food retail sector (Tesco, Aldi etc) have put in long hours over the Covid-19 period, putting themselves and their loved ones at risk; all so we can eat, and have access to a dwindling supply of toilet paper.
Three days off at Christmas would show how we noticed their effort!
I would like parliament to enforce the closing down of all food retail outlets on Christmas eve, Christmas day and Boxing Day.
Although this may come as an inconvenience to some it will show solidarity on a sector that has been out under major strain this year.
The British public can all buy their turkeys and last minute shopping the day before Christmas eve, and give these workers what we had much more than three days of this year; time with their families.
The least we can do!

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
The arrangements for supermarket opening and annual leave for supermarket staff are a matter for individual retailers, not the Government or Parliament.
