Maintain Contact For Care Children & Parents (video) During COVID19 Restrictions
Id like the government to Ensure that contact is maintained via video link or phone calls between children in care & their parents, during The COVID-19 Restrictions, as direct contacts are getting cancelled by L.A. parents & childrens human rights need to be adhered to, their bond needs to be kept.
alot of parents have been notified direct contacts with their children are cancelled, Local Authorities haven't set up video link or phone contacts, they say our children are not priority! WRONG, OUR children are OUR priority, we have court orders stating we are to have contact. Contact between a child and parent is a priority, for the childs well being and mental health too, not forgetting the impact on the parents, primarily, the bond needs to be kept at all costs. So please Maintain Contact.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Arrangements for contact between children in care and parents are a matter for individual care providers and local authorities, not the Government or Parliament.
The Government has stated that it expects contact between children in care and their birth relatives will continue, but has said that contact arrangements should therefore be assessed on a case by case basis, and that the Government will will look to social workers to determine how best to support those valuable family interactions based on the circumstances of each case: www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-guidance-for-childrens-social-care-services/coronavirus-covid-19-guidance-for-local-authorities-on-childrens-social-care
If you are unhappy with decisions that have been made about children's care services, you should complain directly to the council as a first step, but may also be able to escalate your complaint to the Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman: www.lgo.org.uk/make-a-complaint/fact-sheets/social-care/children-s-care-services
