Landlords still charging rent shouldn’t get a freeze on their mortgage

Petition Details

Landlords/home owners have been given a freeze on their mortgages of three months, I do not think it is right that they should get this break and tenants should still be charged rent. Anyone who freezes their mortgage should also freeze their tenants rent.

Additional Information

It is the right thing to do, one party cannot succeed while the other suffers during this outbreak

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Decisions about providing a mortgage payment holiday are a matter for individual mortgage providers, not the Government or Parliament.

We have published a petition calling on the Government to cncourage lenders, landlords and utilities to freeze payments during lockdown, which you might like to sign: petition.parliament.uk/petitions/302256
