Petition Action

Improve financial aid for 1.5m. "extremely vulnerable" who are currently working

Petition Details

The Government has sent letters or texts to 1.5 million people they have identified as extremely vulnerable.

These people have been asked to shield for a minimum of 12 weeks, to keep well and help the NHS.

Those in current employment at the time are only entitled to claim SSP of £94.25

Additional Information

It appears in offering SSP the assumption for the 1.5 million is that they will already be off work sick. This is not a true reflection of the situation & my husband is one of them.

He works 4 days a week with his employer post chemo for lymphoma. He'll see a loss of circa £300 a week as a result of this decision & others are in the same boat.

The Gov. is offering Grant's for furloughed workers. More should be done for the workers in the 1.5 million category.
