Open hotels for homeless people during the covid-19 pandemic across the UK.
The Mayor of London announced that 300 hotel rooms would be open for homeless individuals to provide shelter during the pandemic, however, an estimated 320,000 people in the UK are homeless and further help is needed for those who have the power to do so.
Shelter is a very basic human need, especially during a pandemic, every homeless person should have the right to shelter and a safe place whilst everyone works together to slow the spread of covid-19.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Since you started your petition the Government has instructed local authorities to urgently procure accommodation for people on the streets if they have not already done so, and have said they will support local authorities to do so if they are struggling to procure sufficient units: assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/876466/Letter_from_Minister_Hall_to_Local_Authorities.pdf
The Government has also exempted hotels, hostels and B&Bs from the requirement to close, where they are providing accommodation to key workers and vulnerable people: assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/875654/Luke_Hall_MP_-_Letter_to_Hotel_Chief_Executives.pdf
