Petition Action

to enable Parliament to meet virtually and vote electronically

Petition Details

Should circumstances dictate it can work remotely and all votes whether it sits actually or remotely to be electronic

Additional Information

Parliament is an historic place but needs to be brought into the 21st century particularly in times of crisis. It should be able to stay in session at all times and, if it not not possible to meet in person, it must be able to meet virtually.

In addition, whether the house sits actually or remotely, voting electronically should be available. Parliament must be efficient at all times.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Since you started your petition both Houses of Parliament have met using virtual or hybrid proceedings. The Speaker of the House of Commons has announced that electronic voting is now usable by Members of Parliament.
