COVID 19 special consideration for Year 12/10 students sitting exams 2021
Dispensation for students who are disadvantaged and whose grades/results will be adversely effected by self teaching using online resources which were not designed for that purpose. Students should be given special consideration e.g. using minimum expected grades, lower grade boundaries, coursework.
Students should be given special consideration due to the unprecedented global health crisis and its inevitable long term social and economic impact. Students will be disadvantaged for many reasons; school/college closures, self teaching, no opportunities for work experience, psychological well-being, loss of family/friends due to COVID 19, their own health, minimal support networks, access to home learning resources e.g internet, IT etc, home environment, additional responsibilities during isolation e.g care of siblings/family members, students facing disadvantage will be most vulnerable etc.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Decisions about exams are a matter for exam boards and individual schools, not the UK Government or Parliament. You can read the decision made by exam boards on what will happen to exams here:

If you want the Government to review the decision to use previous data to calculate exam grades, you may wish to sign this petition:

As a result of the large numbers of petitions people have tried to start on this issue, and following a large number of questions it received from petitioners about exams, the Petitions Committee asked the Government about the impact of coronavirus on schools and exams.
